Online is off target.
Bucking the Trend, The World's Largest Dating Service Announces It Will NOT Introduce an Online Dating Site

DATELINE: HINGHAM MA, October 16, 2002… Paul A. Falzone, CEO of The Right One and Together Dating, announced today that the world's largest dating service will NOT introduce an online dating service.

"After much thought, we have come to the conclusion that the needs of our members are best met by our tried and true personal approach, which is the hallmark of our introduction service," said Falzone. "Personally meeting with each of our members ensures the success of our mission, which is to provide single adults with the opportunity to meet compatible people through a membership program that is safe, sensible, and fun."

Despite the burgeoning use of online dating services, Falzone noted that "The Right One and Together Dating, the worlds' largest dating service with over 78 offices throughout the United States, will not consider the prospect of jeopardizing members safety and privacy, which could easily be compromised online."

The Lure of Virtual Matchmaking

At first glance, the concept of an online dating service seems to present a cheap, convenient way to meet eligible singles. However, in researching this option, Falzone and the relationship experts at the Right One and Together Dating uncovered many pitfalls in seeking romance online.

"Though they might never stop to give a drifter a lift on the interstate, there are many whose desire for romance will lead them to pick up the equivalent of hitchhikers on the Information Superhighway," said Falzone. "Unfortunately, for every good-hearted man or woman looking for love there is a dangerous line-up of shady characters that includes con men, liars, and violent criminals."

Many recent reports reinforce Falzone's observations:

·    A recent MSNBC.com series on online dating sites revealed that users of online dating services might not even be communicating with other singles online since it is estimated that at least one-third of online personals users are married!

·    Solicitations for porn Web sites or pay-per-minute chat lines are often embedded in seemingly innocuous personal ads, luring users to pay sites by requesting personal e-mail addresses. Falling for this scam often results in an influx of pornographic spam sent to personal e-mail addresses.

·    A Boston Globe reporter recently reported her own personal experience as the victim of a multiple dater who requested dating exclusivity yet juggled several online contacts, dating them all simultaneously, a not uncommon occurrence as related by other online dating service customers.

·    Customers also report having had their personal ads answered by a prostitute, rather than the girl of their dreams!

·    Many sites only manage a searchable database. Screening, if there is any, is often flawed perpetuating the potential for fraud and abuse.

·    Revealing a personal e-mail address has resulted in users of online dating sites becoming the target of cyberstalkers, the victims of continuing threats and harassment.

·    Sharing a little too much personal information can also expose online dating participants to the possibility of identity theft and the nightmare of trying to rectify the ensuing damage.

·    Many online dating sites do not encourage feedback and users often feel too humiliated and embarrassed about their personal experience of being lied to, or taken advantage of, to file a complaint.

·
High Tech with a Personal Touch

At The Right One and Together Dating romance is facilitated by twenty-first century technology using a proprietary computer hardware and software system that targets compatibility profiles and generates a specialized list of compatible referrals.

However, the personal touch soon becomes evident. An expert consultant individually interviews each member, and then background checks are conducted at The Right One. One on one interviews bring out the intangibles that make a personality profile reflective of an individual's uniqueness, incorporating the member's preferences, values and inner qualities as personalized matchmaking is initiated.

After meeting a potential match, members are encouraged to provide feedback to ensure continuing high levels of satisfaction, unlike many online services. Clients also have the opportunity to receive dating tips and advice, as well as coaching support on an ongoing basis. Romance coaches also assist with image consulting, helping members to "put their best foot forward" through the development of positive attributes of personality and appearance.
